Wise Records: Our Story

Wise Records was co-founded in 2003 by Dustin Wise and Shawn "Rtist" Witmer, two friends whose interest in music was instilled at a young age and continues in full-force today. Their first mixtape, "The Time is Now" by Dustin Wise, was released in 2004, moving over 5,000 units in its first week. Since then, over 15,000 units have been sold. The studio has earned many more distinguishing credits, including runner up for the 2008 and 2009 Central Pennsylvania Hip Hop Awards for Record Label of the Year.

The record label/recording studio is flourishing with the success of its two artists, and is known for bringing unique sound and quality music to the urban community throughout the region. Wise Records has also branched out by playing the role of big brother to independent record label Midwest Records, which is owned by Wise Records' marketing executive, Jessica Wilkinson. Wise Records' ultimate objective is to increase hip hop fans' exposure to quality music on a national level.

Dustin Wise, 20-year-old owner and producer, has been featured in the online music magazine, Bluri Magazine (July 2008), and was named Artist of the Month on www.indaba.com (May 2008). He was also awarded track of the day and track of the week on www.garageband.com for several of the songs he has produced and recorded.
